Arasinagundi Falls near Udupi

The falls is deep inside the forests and is very close to Kodachadri hills. The fall is a sight amazingly pleasurable to eyes. You need permission from forest officers of Mookhambika Wildlife Sanctuary to enter the jungle which starts after 2 Km from Kollur. One has to travel almost 6kms from the Mookambika temple to reach the fall. Once you enter near the fall the sea of leeches will fondly welcome you so if you ignore to take safety measures your foot will be food to leeches.
The place is good for trekking as well as picnic .The adventure lovers can have their set of fun with the river and tide flowing beneath the fall. However the explorers are warned to carry map and other direction instructions. Even for reaching the fall the pathway can be quite confusing especially during the monsoon season, as rain washes the entire track therefore it is advised to have a local guide along with you all the time.
Very good hotels are available in the vicinity of 6 kms. The eatables and other supplies have to be carried with the trekkers as no hawkers is allowed inside the forest. It’s a protected area of Mookambika forest reserve.
Swimming is not so advisable but good swimmers can try their luck with proper safety measure. The stream is extremely deep and cool. Taking dips and bath in the water is all the more an enchanting experience. Untouched by humans, unexplored by the crowd it’s a natural retreat for all nature lovers. So, if you want to enjoy some own time, this is the best place to be at; right into the nature’s lap.
