Pajaka Kshetra- A Mytholocial Spot in Udupi
Pajaka Kshetra also famously called as Shri Pajaka Kshetra is a sacred place in the Udupi district of Karnataka. The village is situated 13 kms from the temple town of Udupi. It is situated within the coordinates of 13?16'16"N & 74?47'31"E .
This sacred place was created by Lord Shri Parashurama. The air pours fragrance in the form of spirituality. It is place where the (1238-1317 AD) was born and who was the key stone of the Dwaita Vedanta (philosophy). The Pajaka Kshetra is basically famous for Madhawacharya’s living. This village tourist spots include an impression of Madhwa's feet, a stone he used to write on and a banyan tree he planted. Pajaka Kshetra is said to be the favourite place of Shri Parashurama and as so, he created 4 ponds namely: Gadathirtha, Parashuthitha, Banathirtha and Dhanushthirtha.
There are other many interesting places to see at Pajaka. Among these the most important is the ancestral home and birthplace of Sri Madhva. This place shows many archaeological evidences of the life and times of Sri Madhva. This includes the spot where his Initiation Ceremony (also called as Aksharabhyasa) was performed.
Pajaka Kshetra is situated in the foothills of Kunjarugiri. On the hill there is an ancient temple dedicated to Goddess Durga. The quiet village of Pajaka has a mythical air surrounding it. Flanked by the Arabian Sea on the west, the evening rays of the sun make this sacred place more scenic and eye-catching. Pajaka is also believed to carry the invisible presence of the saint Madhwacharya.
Pajaka kshetra is well connected through nearby cities like Ambalpady, Manipal, Malpe port and Udupi city. There are many options to reach Pajaka. One can reach there through rail, roadways or airways.
